Speaking about copyright issues, Waqar says, That was an issue [earlier] as I couldnt get in touch with the family which I believe is based in England. However, I got in touch with them last week through Ahmad Haseeb. Haseeb admits that he was glad Waqar was able to produce an international project on her songs but has no idea if the family got in touch with him. 

Although Waqar revealed, EMI-Pakistan told me their copyrights had expired and all the material was in Zohaibs hands. But when EMI-Pakistan was contacted, it was discovered that the company never received a phone call from Waqar. 

Mike Petrowski, general manager of the company's timing products division, believes quartz has had its day. "It only works on one frequency," he said, "it has long lead times and one of the biggest headaches is the supply chain." He also noted that quartz is a mature technology C almost 100 years old C which is susceptible to shock and vibration, as well as being a relatively high cost solution. 

In fact, the company has been working on alternatives to quartz since 2004, when it introduced crystal oscillators (XOs) which brought mixed signal technology to bear on the issue. The result was devices which allowed almost any frequency to be generated from one crystal based reference frequency. 

While the approach C called DSPLL C removed the need for unique crystals to generate specific frequencies and simplified the supply chain, the process still created multi-die products. Meanwhile, the industry was beginning to look at MEMS technology as a potential replacement for quartz, with companies such as Discera, SiTime and Epson undertaking some of the early work. Also making inroads into the technology was IDT with its pMEMS based products. 

An acquisition made in 2010 brought Silicon Labs into the race. It bought Silicon Clocks, an early stage company creating MEMS based timing technology. Its CMEMS C standing for cmos plus MEMS C technology allowed MEMS resonators and other sensor structures to be created directly on standard cmos wafers. The approach did away with the need for special semiconductor processing for the MEMS elements and addressed performance, integration and size issues. It also addressed parasitics and packaging issues. 

The Si50x range is said by Silicon Labs to feature the most highly integrated MEMS based oscillators currently available. The range has been designed to replace general purpose crystal oscillators in cost sensitive, low power and high volume industrial,A glassbottles is a machine used primarily for the folding of paper. embedded and consumer electronics applications. 

"The Si50x family introduces an important technological step forward," said Petrowski, "combining all the manufacturing advantages of a single die MEMS based solution, while retaining some of the best characteristics of general purpose crystal oscillators and improving on reliability and lead times." 

The manufacturing process starts with standard passivated cmos wafers. Polycrystalline SiGe and pure germanium are then surface micromachined to create integrated MEMS devices on top of the cmos circuitry and interconnects. With the MEMS structure in place on the cmos wafer, a full oscillator system is created. The devices can then be encapsulated in a vacuum. The result is timing devices which are guaranteed to have a frequency stability of 20ppm over 10 years, along with high shock and vibration resistance. 

One of the issues which CMEMS technology addresses is that of temperature drift. Previously, MEMS based resonators have seen their frequencies drift by up within the range from -30 to 40ppm/C. Petrowski claims the CMEMS based parts will show temperature related frequency drift of 2ppm/C. "One of the technology's key features is passive temperature compensation," he noted, "and this comes as a result of the resonator being made from SiGe and SiO2. 

"These materials have different temperature performance," he explained. "SiGe gets harder as the temperature drops, while SiO2 gets softer. The interaction between the two materials means frequency drift due to temperature is minimised." 

In terms of construction, the resonator is made from SiGe, but features SiO2 slits (see fig 3). Silicon Labs says this composite material approach provides passive compensation, while the supporting cmos system compensates for remaining frequency drift over the operating life of the product. "Typically," said Petrowski, "Si50x devices show a frequency error of less than 7ppm across the industrial temperature range." 

The four devices launched initially are: the Si501, a single frequency device with output enable (OE) functionality; the Si502, a dual frequency oscillator with OE and frequency select (FS) functionality; the Si503, quad frequency oscillator with FS technology; and the Si504, a fully programmable oscillator said to support all potential configurations. The parts are available in four pin DFN packages measuring 2 x 2.5mm, 2.5 x 3.2mm and 3.2 x 5mm.

Waiting for their homemade boat “The Dip Ship” to be inspected prior to the fourth annual “Anything Floats Race” Saturday, Wayne Devine of Harveys Lake and his crew fueled up on cheese fries.

Gathered at a picnic table on the shore of the Harveys Lake Beach Club, the group of family and childhood friends reminisced about past races. The race was part of this weekend’s homecoming festivities at the lake.Constructed of nothing more than plywood, Styrofoam and tie wraps, “The Dip Ship” remained undefeated, winning every race in last year’s contest. In order to participate in the contest, vessels had to be homemade and powered by hand or foot.

The event consisted of races between crafts in two-, four-, six-, eight- and 10-person teams. The quarter-mile course looped from one end of a line of buoys to the other. “The object is to see if your craft can make it around the buoys without sinking or falling apart,” said race organizer Mike Rush, pointing out that “The Dip Ship” even won two years ago during the hurricane. “The race goes on rain or shine.”

Special prizes were awarded for the “Most Unique Craft” and the “Most Enthusiastic Group.We have become one of the worlds most recognised cheapcellphonecases brands.” Rush recalled winning the award for “Most Unique” when he built a boat out of two bicycles hooked up with chains and a paddle wheel. John Kerry says Pakistan drone strikes

The US secretary of state, John Kerry, and his Pakistani counterpart, Sartaj Aziz, said on Thursday the two countries will resume high-level negotiations over security issues. Kerry suggested that disputed drone strikes could end soon.Kerry also said he had invited Pakistan's newly elected prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, to come to Washington to meet Barack Obama.

"I'm pleased to announce that today, very quickly, we were able to agree to a resumption of the strategic dialogue in order to foster a deeper, broader and more comprehensive partnership between our countries," Kerry said, at a news conference with Aziz in Islamabad. He also said the talks would cover "all of the key issues between us, from border management to counterterrorism to promoting US private investment and to Pakistan's own journey to economic revitalization."

Kerry told Pakistani TV that the US would end strikes on Pakistan in the near future. "I believe that we're on a good track," he said. "I think the program will end as we have eliminated most of the threat and continue to eliminate it.

A State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, said: "As we continue the transition in Afghanistan, we will no longer have the same need for force protection in the Afghan war theater and the progress we've made against core al-Qaida will reduce the need for unmanned strikes." Psaki also noted that there was "no exact timeline to provide".

The US and Pakistan launched high-level talks on a swath of security and development programs in 2010. But the talks stalled in November 2011 after US airstrikes on a Pakistani post on the Afghan border accidentally killed 24 Pakistani soldiers. Before that, the bilateral relationship was severely damaged by a variety of incidents, including a CIA contractor shooting to death two Pakistanis in the eastern city of Lahore and the covert US raid that killed Osama bin Laden in the Pakistani town of Abbottabad.

The resumption of the strategic dialogue indicates that the relationship between the two countries has improved. But there is still significant tension and mistrust, especially regarding US drone strikes and Pakistan's alleged ties with Taliban militants using its territory to launch attacks against American troops in Afghanistan.

Recently, several letters have been published on the opinion page criticizing Lee Judges and Glenn McCoys work as biased. But that misses the point. These cartoons represent opinions and are therefore by definition biased.

I admit that my opinions lean toward those of Judges. Ironically, an anti-Judge letter appeared in the April 29 issue of The Star right below a simplistic and witless McCoy cartoon attacking President Barack Obama and those who qualify for food stamps, a federal program of longstanding that has helped feed families and support the agriculture industry.

The camera system throughout downtown Carlisle is also a point of concern since dispatchers are responsible for monitoring the system as calls permit and for actively monitoring live incidents on the 16 current cameras and the 42 scheduled to be added through the Cumberland County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, according to Margesons memo.

Carlisle Police Department never would have recommended the system if dispatch elimination was even being considered, Margeson wrote.

Candlands report said county dispatchers have indicated that camera feeds could be streamed to the 911 center. The proposed administrative employees that would be hired could still monitor the cameras while keeping the police station open to the public from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Switching to county dispatch would require Carlisle police to convert to the county radio system, which would offer interoperability with municipal police departments, fire departments, emergency medical services and other agencies during an emergency, according to Candlands report. Since the department already has 34 county radios, switching to the county system would require the purchase of an additional 16 mobile radios and six portable radios. "Mob Wives," a provocative reality program about a group of women who were born into, or married into, reputed Mafia families, drew 1.4 million viewers when it premiered on the Viacom Inc. cable channel a week ago Sunday. About 68% of those viewers were women.

By comparison, the reality hit "Jersey Shore" drew about 1.38 million viewers when it debuted on VH1's sister channel, MTV, in December 2009.

The new show's audience represented a 32% increase from the average number of women 18- to 49-years-old who watched VH1 at 8 p.m. on Sundays during the first three months of 2011. On the Sunday of its debut, "Mob Wives" ranked No. 3 in Google searches.

After seeing its audience erode in recent years, VH1 recently overhauled its programming to target young women. "Mob Wives" is a cornerstone of the channel's new strategy as its executives turn away from dating-competition shows to programs that focus on more serious subjects, such as family, religion, and the Mafia.

CBS Aims to Name New Anchor Soon

The new brass at CBS Corp.'s CBS News hopes to name a new anchor and unveil other changes in the network's evening newscast as early as next week, regardless of whether current anchor Katie Couric has picked her next job, said people familiar with the matter.

Ms. Couric's contract at the network expires in early June, and she is still weighing offers, including one from CBS, to host a daytime talk show. She likely won't finalize her plans before CBS News announces its changes, one of the people familiar with the matter said. But Ms. Couric, who is going to London to cover the royal wedding this week, may publicly acknowledge that she is leaving her anchor seat in coming days, this person added.

CBS News is expected to name "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley as its "CBS Evening News" anchor, and make other behind-the-camera changes at the show, the people familiar with the matter said. CBS is hoping to improve the news broadcast's No. 3 ratings, in part by focusing on traditional news coverage, one of these people added.

WNET Bids to Run New Jersey Network

WNET, the top public-television provider to the New York metropolitan area, has submitted a bid to manage New Jersey Network, one of the country's largest statewide public-broadcasting networks, and is expecting to hear back next week, according to people familiar with the situation.

Last year, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie signaled his desire to sever ties with NJN, planning to eliminate its $11 million state subsidy. He is one of several public officials trying to extricate their states from the public-television business, which is undergoing a wave of consolidation in the face of cutbacks.

NJN, which has been on the air for more than 40 years, is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service television network and the National Public Radio network. It also broadcasts its own programming, mostly related to issues in New Jersey.

In addition to WNET, which runs public-television channels WNET13 and WLIW21, potential suitors for NJN are WHYY, a PBS member in Philadelphia, and local organizations such as WBGO, a public-radio station broadcast out of Newark.

Self-Publishing Leads to Literary Break-Up

Can literary agents survive in an era of self-publishing? A high-profile author-agent break-up is a cautionary tale.

A few weeks ago, thriller writer Barry Eisler parted ways with agent Dan Conaway, who had represented him since the summer of 2007.

Part of the reason: Mr. Eisler just didn't need him.

The author had recently rejected a $500,000, two-book deal from a leading publisher in favor of self-publishing "The Detachment," a thriller featuring his character John Rain, a Japanese-American assassin. He plans to publish the title this summer as an e-book and a physical book.

"The thing that has enabled agents to take their 15% cut is brokering the deal and managing the relationship that results from the deal," said Mr. Eisler. "In a self-published world, those things don't apply."

To survive, agents need to morph into business managers who also handle the traditional publishing roles such as copy-editing, proof-reading, and jacket design. "That will be their value proposition," he said.

Mr. Conaway declined to comment, except to confirm that he no longer represents Mr. Eisler.

Mr. Eisler may not have slammed the door shut on traditional publishing, however. "If circumstances change, and I decide I'd be better off in the legacy world again, I could always go back," he said. "If there's anything to go back to."
