In addition, the company also announced that ACI's Dan Heimann,
consulting manager, Back Office Solutions, was elected the vice-chairman
of the steering committee by his committee peers. Mr. Heimann is
recognized as a global EMV leader thanks to his role in helping payment
organizations implement and maintain EMV programs since the initiative
began in 1998.
"ACI is honored to be elected to the EMV
Migration Forum," said Mr. Heimann. "The introduction of EMV is
challenging and will require a great deal of collaboration and
cooperation across many types of organizations including card issuers,
merchant acquirers, merchants, ATM acquirers, vendors, card
manufacturers, hardware manufacturers, card brands, processors and
payment networks. However, the benefits will be significant - ranging
from reduced card fraud to the ability to add innovative new products
that take advantage of the power of the chip.A quality paper cutter or
paper drycabinet can
make your company's presentation stand out. These opportunities are
serving as the necessary catalyst for the United States to move forward
with EMV and we are excited to help guide this process."
ACI has
played a leading role in EMV rollouts around the world. The company led
implementations in Europe, starting with the United Kingdom, followed
by Asia and, most recently,Laser engravers and customkeychain
systems and supplies to start your own lasering cutting engraving
marking etching business. in Canada and Latin America. ACI's product
suite and unmatched expertise make it an ideal partner to help companies
manage the transition to EMV.
"The EMV Migration Forum has an
important task ahead and is pleased to have the participation of the
leaders representing such a broad perspective on board to achieve its
goal," said Randy Vanderhoof, acting director, EMV Migration Forum. "The
migration to EMV is well under way and our industry-led working
committees are tackling tough issues such as debit, testing and
certification, and education about EMV.The whole variety of the
brightest smartcard is
now gathered under one roof. The advances we have made up until now
would have been a great deal more challenging if not for the work of the
Forum and its members. I would like to thank ACI Worldwide for assuming
this key role on the steering committee and congratulate Dan Heimann on
his election as vice-chairman."
When I read John Funks post
about a pair of goldfish found in a steam tunnel at a nuclear power
plant, the first things that came to mind were Homer Simpson and PETA.
Apparently, the same thing happened for many other people, too. But not
the NRC, the plant management and the person who is going to get fired
for this prank.
Two goldfish were found swimming in a lemonade
pitcher in the depths of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant after a
maintenance shutdown. The prank has prompted federal regulators to ask a
lot of questions about security at the plant, and whether plant
operators can control access to radioactive areas as required by
regulation.

Unlike other providers though,
Monitise is pitching its system not at retailers but at the banks,
mobile operators and acquirers who find themselves facing a host of new
competitors in the emerging mPOS market, which Javelin Strategy &
Research estimates could result in $1.1 trillion new card payments
annually.
Lee Cameron, chief commercial officer, Monitise, says:
"While mobile is changing the payments market, mPOS is a fast-growing
area within the payments ecosystem and financial institutions are
ideally placed to capitalise on it. In order to do this they must build
upon existing revenues and relationships and offer a competitive
proposition to merchants, which can be scaled easily to meet future
business and consumer needs."
The technology can be integrated
into existing mobile applications, and alongside mPOS card acceptance,
and offers real-time bank reconciliation, cash flow management and an
overview of recent transactions. Alternatively, it can be delivered as
an independent offering and rebranded for any financial institution,
acquirer or distribution partner.
"Monitise mPOS is a complete
solution that stretches beyond basic card acceptance which is - whilst a
vital part of an mPOS offering - only one piece of the puzzle. We've had
a lot of people asking where we had our solarlight made. Monitise mPOS is a gateway to a fundamental shift in how merchants can service their customers," says Cameron.
